Hello,
This email was sent by one of my clients, please read it carefully and act accordingly. We have to fight for our dogs
Thank you.
Animal interest groups, met with Vancouver City Council, to discuss
> their strategic planning, in regards to dog legislation and
> management, for 2005. The outcome of the meeting was that the report
> Councillor Stevenson recommended, on the feasibility of a breed ban in
> Vancouver, which is to be issued THIS February 17th, is not
> recommending a breed ban in Vancouver.
>
> However, the report DOES RECOMMEND examining the feasibility of a ban on
> a PROVINCIAL LEVEL, as an alternative. Nor does it stop City Council
> from completely disregarding the recommendation all together, and
> still proceeding to attempt to put through a local ban. Victoria
> Council is currently looking for support as well on this issue.
>
> Other feedback from this meeting was that, while nobody present at the
> meeting supported a ban, of all public correspondence received by
> Council on this issue, the majority were in SUPPORT of a breed ban.
>
> *****This means pittie lovers better start writing as we need more
> support and need our voices heard!*******
>
> Also, it is an election year in Vancouver, and it's no secret that
> Stevenson wishes to make a move from municipal politics up to a
> Provincial level.

> The more voices, the better!! We will be receiving a preliminary copy
> of the report a week beforehand, and will regularly update you all on
> the status of this very important issue.

> Points to remember:
>
> Keep your letters/e-mails concise and to the point. Letters over a
> page are usually discarded or not read thoroughly. Be articulate in
> conveying your point of view, and don't be afraid to attach a picture
> of you and your dog together to add "realness" to your opinion. Do not
> wait to send them - start now!
>
> There are rumors running on possible ban/restrictions of all large guard
> dogs to
> include Rottweilers, Akitas, German Shepherds, Mastiffs, etc.
>
> Vancouver has a rescue organization that is called Animal Advocates
> and they are FOR BSL. They are also VERY active in the media.
